UK house prices jump in July

Stock prices in London were in the green this morning following the news that UK house prices increased in the month of July, with shares of house builders enjoying a boost. UK house price growth increased to 2.3% in July annually, picking up speed from a 1.6% increase in June. This is the highest annual growth rate recorded since January. The average UK house price in July stood at £291,268, up from £289,042 in June.

Disney beats earnings estimates

Disney announced earnings that beat expectations, thanks in part to Pixar’s hit ‘Inside Out 2’. Walt Disney’s earnings for April to June surpassed expectations. Disney reported adjusted earnings per share of $1.39, overshadowing analyst estimates of $1.19, and a 4% revenue increase to $23.2 billion, slightly above forecasts of $23.1 billion. ‘Inside Out 2’ was a significant contributor, with the Entertainment unit’s operating income nearly tripling.

Novo Nordisk shares dip

Shares of Novo Nordisk tumbled close to 7% at one point before paring back losses. The pharmaceutical giant said its net profit came in at 20.05 billion Danish kroner ($2.93 billion) in the three months to the end of June. A LSEG aggregate forecast had projected the figure would come in at 20.9 billion Danish kroner.
