London Reminded Me What Female Invest Is Really About

Nothing compares to standing in a room full of women who believe in what we’re building together.

I’m sitting at my desk in Copenhagen with a smile on my lips and a tear in the corner of my eye.

Why?

Because the afterglow hasn’t worn off after our member event in London last week - a mix of pride, gratitude, and connection that’s still with me.

And if anyone understands that feeling, it’s the 300 women who joined us in London last week.

When you spend most days deep in strategy, deadlines, and data, it’s easy to forget the real reason we do this work. Meeting our community face to face is the reminder - the living proof - of our impact.

We’ve always made that a priority. In Copenhagen, we host community events every second month. We’ve done brand activations in the streets, handing out flyers, chatting to women, and spreading the word about our mission.

But nothing compares to standing in a room full of women who believe in what we’re building together.

The moment the doors opened

The venue doors opened at six, but we’d been there since early afternoon - setting up banners, adjusting lights, double-checking the sound.

The energy backstage was electric. My colleagues - Anna, Stephanie, Nina, Anna and Lærke - and I huddled together, champagne glasses clinking, nerves buzzing.

Someone said, “Everyone ready? Doors opening now.”

And just like that, it began.

I was at the entrance handing out drink tickets, and for the next half hour, it was a blur of smiling faces and laughter.

There’s a special kind of magic when women walk into a space made for them - where finance isn’t intimidating but empowering, where everyone instantly feels they belong.

Women and Wealth

The theme of the night was Women and Wealth — and the line-up could not have been more inspiring.

Our co-founder, Anna, opened the evening by sharing the story of how Female Invest began: the early days, the doubts, the breakthroughs. I’ve heard that story more than ten times now, but every single time I get goosebumps.

It’s a raw and heartfelt reminder of why this movement exists in the first place.

Then came Tiwalola Adebayo - confidence coach, author, and absolute powerhouse of positive energy.

Within minutes, she had the whole room nodding, laughing, and scribbling notes. One of her exercises was simple yet surprisingly powerful: we had to name positive qualities about ourselves.

Sounds easy, right? But sitting there, saying kind words about myself, I realised how rarely I do that. Judging by the nervous laughter around me, I wasn’t alone.

It was an instant mirror - showing how quick we are to doubt ourselves and how slow we are to celebrate who we are.

Next up was Lisa Meller, financial advisor and webinar host here at Female Invest.

Lisa shared her own journey - one that actually began at a Female Invest event years ago.

Back then, she was a lawyer dreaming of something different. She took the leap, studied for her Diploma in Financial Advice while working full-time, and eventually built a brand-new career.

Her story was a powerful reminder that it’s never too late to reinvent yourself - and that courage often starts with a single decision.

Then came the grand finale: an unforgettable panel featuring Andrea Montague, CEO of Brooks Macdonald, Elise Ash, SVP of Marketing & Growth, and Nicola Howell, Chief Commercial Officer at The Royal Mint.

The conversation was open, honest, and beautifully brave — full of those “yes, that’s exactly it!” moments that ripple through the room and make you feel seen.

My biggest takeaways from the evening?

  • Confidence is key. You can’t grow wealth without first believing in your own ability to do so.
  • Just start. It might feel scary, but you’ll learn by doing — and that’s where the magic happens.

Stories that stay with you

After the panel, the room turned into a sea of conversation. Glasses clinked, LinkedIns were exchanged, laughter rippled across the space.

We’d set up a small booth where members could share their money stories for a chance to win a one-to-one financial coaching session with Lisa Meller.

I spent most of the evening there, listening to women open up.

One woman told me she’d made her first investment the week before - just £50, but it felt monumental. “It’s not about the amount,” she said. “It’s about finally backing myself.”

That line stayed with me.

By the end of the night, our story box was overflowing.

On my flight home, I kept thinking about those handwritten notes - each one a snapshot of courage, growth, and change.

Why it matters

Now, back at my desk, that same box of stories sits beside me.

And every time I glance at it, I’m reminded that Female Invest isn’t just a platform - it’s a movement.

A movement built by women who are rewriting the rules of money, one story at a time.

That night in London wasn’t just an event. It was a glimpse of what happens when women come together - to learn, to share, to cheer each other on. And it reminded me of this simple truth: when women rise, we all rise.

To everyone who joined us - thank you. You are the heartbeat of this mission.

And to those we haven’t yet met - we can’t wait to see you at the next one.

...Oh and if you joined, let us know in the discussion thread, what your main takeaways were?
